Do not pass go, do not .... You know the rest

They always say, "Getting started is the hardest part"...

Starting your own business is hard. Making the choice to take the leap is hard. But finding the money to finance your dreams. That's even harder and it's scary. I've been working in this industry for close to 10 years now. I'm almost a full year into owning my own business and I've ALMOST quit more times than I can count. So in the breath of transparency, honesty and sharing.... Let me tell you what I've learned: 1.) Don't ever quit on a bad day. - Full disclosure: I'm not just a business owner. I'm a mom and this advice was actually given to me regarding the challenges of breastfeeding. 2.) Create a budget and set realistic monthly goals. Keyword: Realistic. 3.) Don't beat yourself up when you realize you've made a mistake in your "master plan". I've had to reevaluate and reorganize more than once. That's okay! 4.) The old saying, "Sometimes it's who you know and not what you know" is painfully true. But don't get it confused. Your success is your own. Cultivate and grow your relationships but don't tie your success boat to anyone else!

So here's to the good, the bad, the ugly and my first blog post as a business owner. Stay Tuned.
